Also, disney released a play called Aida a few years ago that was on
broadway went on tour and now is only international. It had Heather Headly
which was the orginal Nala in the broadway production. She also sang the
main love song in Lion King 2. Disney has plans to release Tarzan later on
this year. But I always say never underestemate the power of disney or far
their reach goes. Keep in mind touchtone pictures and ABC are both owned by
disney.

Does anyone know if the Lion King Musical Broadway Play will come on DVD..
I actually went and saw the play 5 times in Toronto, the first couple of
times I saw the play, didnt pay to get in as I knew one of the performance
actors who graduated at my local college.. I absolutely loved it and would
like to own the DVD one day if Disney decides to release it just like
Phantom of Opera and Cats...
Urm...Disney? What does Disney have to do with the Phantom and Cats? They
are both AFAIK Andrew Lloyd Webber Musicals.
So far Disney has only released musical versions of their movies...and none
of them on DVD. Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and Hunchback of Notre
Dame (in Berlin only).
I agree with you on the theatrical play, the acting, dancing, special
effects, and music is very powerful and captiviting.. Then again I knew
this would be excellent and a must see after seeing the Lion King movie
for the first time..
However, I am absolutely sure that the TLK musical has been recorded, even
if at least as footage for trailers.
Cross fingers. <g> A few prayers to Mano and Minshasa might help, too.
Or a hundred thousand Hail Sarawbees?

I've seen TLKiL twice and am planning to see it again.
The first time I saw it on stage was exactly 10 years after I first saw it
in the cinema, on the day! (11/28 1994 - 11/28 2004) I thought that was kin=
d
of cool.
I think it it great o the stage! There are soem charms that they couldn't
adapt, but then there are some new ones that compliment the film very well.=
.
The stage-show fills in a few blanks as it has more scenes than the film.. =
A
lovely talk with Mufasa and Zazu, Madness of King Scar etc..
Iy you're in London, you can get standing tickets for =A312.50 (about $25)

What made me like TLK.. aw man.. a lot I'd say. I connected with Simba, saw
affinities with myself in him, but also enjoyed things in his life I didn't
have myself (great relationship with father) I think because I identified
with the lead character, everything about the film captivated me and became
a reality around me, which is what all entertainment really strives for. Oh
and I think I fell in love with Nala as well. (how original, huh?)

By the way, I suppose you've all seen that "LionKiss" on the news?
SO sweet!

I finally got to see TLKoB for the first time on December 16th in Orlando
(only, oh... 9 years after its Broadway debut). Thankfully it's still
running almost a decade later, and the way tickets are selling it will
probably be around for a few more years at least.
The show was amazing, definitely recommended for TLK fans and non-fans
alike. I was in the front row, which had its advantages and disadvantages,
but seeing all the actors and actresses up close was really cool. Plus I
think the sound quality is better near the front of the orchestra section.
All of the characters had their own styles which were closely matched to
the
movie, but some subtle differences thrown in made it even better. The music
of course is fantastic, but anyone with the broadway soundtrack probably
already knows that. One thing that caught me off-guard was how much more
powerful it is in the actual theater... I've got a nice sound system at
home
but there's no way it comes close to live performance.
I don't have any photos of the event, but a number of people on
leahalalela.com had some pics and I even found some video clips that way.
Roquivo, I hope you get a chance to go see it. I had to wait a few years
for
the circumstances to be right but it was worth it. Also I can't imagine a
DVD version having nearly the same effect that a live performance does.
Even
on a 100" screen you could not do it justice. Yes, the ticket price is not
particularly cheap but it isn't a typical Friday night movie either.

I've never seen the Musical either.
3 chances have presented themselves: One in New York, one in Hamburg, one in Los Angeles (and there was even a small opportunity to see it in San Francisco, but it wasn't as concrete as the other 3); and every time, for some reason or another, something prevents me from actually going to see it. 2 of those times the tickets were already bought and everything; in fact I still have my 1998 ticket to go see it in the New Amsterdam theater (where it does not play anymore, I just recently learned) in Broadway.

One day, maybe...

Wow! I forgot I was even on the list! heh...

Anyway, I think it was my love for animals, and how the story of the
"Circle of Life" is portrayed(Ex: Not making preditors look like blood
thirsty murderers) that made me fall in love.

Luckey, when you say "Stageshow", do you mean TLKOB? Sorry, but I am
not as fammiliar with the live show portion of the fandom. I think a
DVD of a TLKOB performance would open my eyes a bit without having to
spend money I don't have.

I think what needs to happen is for ever one to remember what made them
fall in love with the lion king I know that alot of people already know
what that is but it could mean more than that. With 2007 on the rise I
always see to it that I remember alot of reasons why I became a fan of the
Lion King. For one if you love a certain character from the movie discover
how you are like them. You would be supprised what type of character traits
you have with that character.
Does anyone in perticular remind you of a certain character at your work
place I think I could name some people.
We should all talk about something Lion King related or how about Big cats
in general if Brian would allow such topic where as it is a part of Lion
King.
Just my two cents.
