Hey all,

Am new to this mailing list - so go easy please :D

Ok, down to business. I recently won a GIANT simba in a charity
raffle at an Asda store (Asda/Walmart). By giant, i mean it stands
5ft tall, with a metal frame (underneath all the soft toy exterior).
Ive managed to find some details about it, and even contact the
company that made it. In all honesty, my intention is to sell it,
most likely on eBay.

If anyone has any more information regarding this little (haha)
fellow, then please let me know. The following 2 links are some
pictures that ive taken of him:

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I'm TLK fan in Japan. I have a giant Simba.
You can see a TAG on his back. He was made by Douglas Inc. It seems that he
was made for advertisement of TLK II -Simba's pride-. His size is
H127cmxW83cmxD135cm (without tail) and weight of 40kg.
You can see more picture on my web.

But, it still has Japanese text.

Hey Mutushi,

Thanks for the heads up, only thing is, none of the images on your
list look like the Simba that i have. He was made by Douglas, i have
the serial number handy, and those measurements are about right. If
im being stupid and cant tell which on from your list matches my
Simba, then please please put me right :P

Thanks again!

<snip>

Hello,

I saw such a Simba being sold on ebay. It was somewhere in the
"Ruhrgebiet" in Germany. Those Simbas were made as display figures and
put in front of theaters back in 1994. The side of the one that I saw on
ebay was 1.60m, which is pretty much 5 ft.

Was sold in the end for 160 Eur.

Side note to our japanese lister: I am more focused on collecting TLK
media such as CDs, LDs and DVDs. I managed to get three japanese TLK
CDs...one is a special edition box with TLK figures in it, and a english
language TLK soundtrack in an all transparent jewel case. Found it in a
German WOM store...the second is a jap. language soundtrack CD, and a CD
of the TLK musical in Tokyo.

:)

Oh wow, I don't meet nearly enough people on the net from Japan. Come
to think of it I don't think I've met anyone on the net from Japan..
You could be the first Japanese (and living in Japan) list member,
welcome! I've often wondered how popular the Lion King is over there,
if there are many insane fans as you find in the West, considering how
much more mainstream animation is in Japan.

Those pictures are awesome by the way, are those plushies all yours??
The top left one I wanted for years, I heard they had him in Disney
stores round the country, in most countries, for the release of TLK, and
were very hard to try and buy. Could fill an entire bed, practically.
The giant Simba you're talking about though, you're right, it came out
around the time of TLK 2, a friend of mine managed to get hold of one on
ebay also. It's awesome, though a little big :)

Incidentally I think I have Simba 4, 6, Sarabi_1, and a few others not
on your site :)

Wow, 40kg? That's incredibly heavy for a plush! I wonder what's inside
it....

Kind of neat to see someone from Japan on this list. Welcome! }:)

Glad to meet friends!

Yes, I'm Japanese TLK fan. And, I'm collecting the stuffed animal of the
Lion. Specially, big size of ADULT Simba. I could get the stuffed animals on
my web by Ebay or Yahoo auction. Also, I got some animals in US and UK.
Giant Simba came from Disney classic collector in UK.

A lot of Japanese TLK fan likes musical than animation. As you know,
"Gekidan Shiki" (Theatrical company) presents the musical of TLK in Tokyo
and Nagoya. The musical of TLK is very nice musical. But, they speaks
Japanese. It isn't match to TLK. They should speak original language. I want
to see it in Broadway in NY.
There is insane TLK animation fan also in Japan. I know some TLK fan in
Japan. We have a meeting regularly. But, they can't speak English well.
Sometime, I supports them. If they are possible, we (I and my friends) want
to meet you.

Mutsushi

Yes, he is very heavy. The bone (frame) is necessary to support him. But, it
is not metal.
